Community Priority 5: Enhance Snow & Windrow Removal
❄️ Enhance Snow & Windrow Removal
After every snowfall, windrows, uncleared roads and snow-covered pathways can block access and create serious safety challenges. For seniors living alone—and residents in older neighbourhoods without sidewalks—getting groceries, attending appointments, or simply leaving home safely can become a real challenge.
What have we accomplished?
✅ 150+ seniors have benefited from priority windrow removal through my advocacy.
✅ I pushed for citywide windrow removal, while supporting targeted assistance for seniors and residents most in need, given the estimated $6.1 million annual cost.
✅ Helped launch a pathway snow-removal pilot at Milliken Mills Park.
✅ Launched a volunteer windrow removal initiative to help residents who need extra support.
What’s next?
I will continue advocating for citywide windrow removal and expand my volunteer program across Ward 8.
I will also continue working with schools, school boards, City departments and other stakeholders to expand pathway snow removal, with the goal of improving access to schools and parks across our community.
Better winter access. Safer communities. No one left behind.
